President Barack Obama broke a five decade standoff with a historic visit to Havana, Cuba in March 2016. Change and optimism were in the air as he watched an MLB exhibition game in Havana and the Rolling Stones played to hundreds of thousands of fans. But despite the warming relations, the U.S. embargo remains in effect and the Cuban government reasserted its revolutionary ideals, vowing to evolve on its own terms. Meanwhile daily life remained unchanged for the majority of Cubans who live with extraordinary social services but isolated from the world.
